Hi Dave -
I've had very good luck with Brasso as a polish, after a good cleaning.
The trick is to polish it several times, and to buff it out to a good
sheen. I'm not sure if you'll get any used knob to look as nice as a
clean or NOS example, though. IIRC, original bakelite knobs had some
kind of varnish or shellac coating on them which wears off over time, or
creates that nice orange glow on the drying towel after you wash them in
soap and water. Must be someone here with experience from the past in
this matter?
If all else fails, find another dull knob and polish it to match the
ones you have, then keep the other as a spare or trade it off!
