Al: the mail list came back up. My reply did not make it to the list server.
Not sure if I should re post it again or not, but I am going to send it
again. My apologies if this message posts twice.

Hi Al, Thanks for writing. You were the first to send anything. Am totally
stumped as to what the problem might be. I don't have a good enough signal
generator to do an IF alignment, but if the IF's were messed up, 160,80 & 40
wouldn't be working. Last night I was listening to a bunch of LA0's from
Norway on 75M ssb, with it on a longwire up 15-20 ft!
I am getting some stations on 20, but VERY weakly. Ditto for 15 & 10. I can
here the calibrator (not as strong as 40 & below, but it's there). I've
found a bunch of cold solder joints, and spent a lot of time on the wafer
switches cleaning them. The only thing I found so far was the what I wrote
about below. I peaked all the RF stages, using the vfo from my TS-830S. All
the voltages and resistances are there, more or less. Nothing really off. I
noticed that , when I can hear a station on 20M, the side bands are
reversed.... upper comes in on the lower setting. 160,80,& 40 work
normally... LSB is L , and USB is U. the BFO tuning seems to be working OK.
Also, is the mailman.qth.net server down? I work at an ISP in Cincinnati,
and as far as I can tell, they have been down since last night. They still
are not up as I write this.
thanks for any help + 73's, JIM WA8SDF
It's not real Ham radio if it doesn't weigh at least 50 lbs!
