Dear Fellow BA Restorers,

Finally ready for the last step (alignment).

SP-600-JX-17 purchased 3 Dayton's ago. RF deck cover says JX1 SN# 4028 but
it must have been switched in some maintenance shop. Near the center on the
back of the front panel is an ink stamp saying April 1954. It did play as is
when slowly brought up to 115VAC.
    - Three holes drilled in front panel restored
     - 56 BBOD's, 3 electrolytics, 6 bathtub caps replaced, "rebuilt" 3
section electrolytic
     - gear train and all pots disassembled and cleaned
     - all panels and hardware scrubbed and buffed
     - front panel stripped, painted, and lettered six times. Slow learner.
     - etc., etc., etc., and it still played when done (miracle?)

- Thanks to everyone on this reflector for the tips and knowledge gleaned
from three years of 'reading the mail'.
- The Chuck Ripple Video was helpful
- A special thanks to A.G.Tannenbaum.com for hanging with me until we got to
a real JX-17 manual and schematic.

Any suggestions on:
      - crystal hold down fingers (make them??)
    - 6V6 & 5R4 tube clamps?
    - band switch knob. It has a handsome 2-piece 8 finger indent knob on it
but it is not original.

One question. What should I look for in surplus signal generators at
hamfests? Forty years ago I believe BC-221's were the rage. Is there a
newer standard but still affordable for 455kc to 54Meg?

Again, thanks to everyone on the reflector for solving problems I didn't know
I had. What a project.

Retired and a touch crazy,
Loren
