Al, James,

I wonder why high ripple caps? The Hammarlund folks didn't use high ripple
caps, did they?

I was just reading the manual on my GR inductance bridge. The make a stern
point of the fact that current in an inductor changes the inductance. A
choke meant to be pretty much about nearby the value of 20 Hy at rated
current is likely to be more at no current (which is where I suspect you
measured the thing.)

Filter choke values are definitely not exact. (I did not use the word
"critical" because that term is used in connection with choke input filters
to indicate the minimum inductance value needed for "good" regulation over
the range of currents expected.)
