All vintage gear of all flavors and scents is always welcome -
If possible, I will be on the air on Sunday August 11th at 12:30 PM EDT, (1630
UTC), for the pre-Net portion of the Hallicrafters Collectors International 20
meter Net. The Net proper will commence at 1:15 PM EDT, (1715 UTC). The
frequency will be 14.293 Mhz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the sound
of happy frogs conducting their annual hydroleaf pond races. Most engines
appropriated from crashed RC planes children fly at nearby school playground
areas. Or shot down with laser guided pond scum balls! There was one with a real
rooster tail last year when an unlucky rooster wandered into the pond to get a
drink and got run over by a lily pad leaf on pontoons powered by a small two
cycle weed whacker engine. Feathers went everywhere and the winning pondskimmer
held up a rooster foot in victory as he sped across the finish line.
I tthink Frogzilla will be writing up an account of the races for the HCI web
site later this week.
I hope to hear many of you tomorrow, my health and the fickle propagation
permitting. I will do my best to be there, hope it does likewise. If I am not
there, would VE4WI Craig Winchar please pick up the NCS duties for me? Thanks
Craig. You are a great buddy and a dear friend. But when it comes to friends, I
can think of no better group of people to have as friends as the Hallicrafters
group and other vintage radio lovers. You guys are the absolute best!
