For the OS X logger, you have 3 main choices: RUMlogNG (Free), Aether ($39), and MacLoggerDX ($95).  All three are very good and all three offer trials. Check them all out and find the one you like the most.  They’ll all work just fine for a logbook for your voice and digital contacts.

For digital mode software, try Fldigi on OS X.  It does just about everything except the JT modes and the WInMOR stuff. For the JT digital modes (JT65/JT9), use WSJT-X.  For WinMOR, you’re stuck with Windows unless you can get the install to work with something like CrossOver; in theory it is possible but it isn’t the easiest install.

My recommendation would be RUMlogNG. It can handle CAT for the rig, works with Fldigi to share the CAT/PTT and works with WSJT-X (via JT-Bridge software) for CAT/PTT. It can also handle CW keying and more.  Best of all is that it is all free.

On my boat, I have a Yaesu FT 450 and a SCS PTC-IIex pactor III modem with I use with Airmail software on the Winlink system with a 4 port Keyspan serial USB adapter…..

The Keyspan device handles the SCS Modem on port one, the Yaesu FT450 on port two, a GPS input on port three, and a AIS receiver on port four...

And, I want to try the Winmor sound card mode, so I have a new Signalink USB and will try that with RMS Express.

On board computers are an old MacBook with Bootcamp and Vista, an a much newer MacBook Air with Parallels and Windows 10….

So with a new sound card device I can run PSK31, RTTY, CW, when time allows…….

And I need a logger for these contacts as well as my voice contacts.

And of course, I would prefer to stay on the Mac OS X, Windows run on both computers just to access the Winlink system….

Which logger? Which sound card application? And finally, which OS? Mac preferred, but windows available…..

CAT control is available for the logger, but I don’t need to swing a beam or log on to spotting networks…..
