[Ham-Mac] Aether uploads logs directly to LoTW; changing QTHs

Hi Marcus,

Sorry I didn't reply to this a little sooner. I've been out of the country with just my iPad and spotty internet service.

Anyway, Aether doesn't currently directly support the idea of a per-QSO station QTH (ie. multiple station QTHs in the same logbook file). Each logbook file has a single station location, and this is used when uploading to LoTW. In theory, you can change the station info for the entire log as you're logging, as long as you upload each block of QSOs to LoTW with the station info set to the correct location for that block. (Aether won't reupload QSOs whose LoTW sent status has been set to true, even if the station location for the log changes.)

Of course, this isn't particularly elegant. The most "Aether like" way to do this is to use a separate log for each station QTH. Plenty of users have two stations, one at home and one at their vacation home or whatever, and do this, but in the case that you're roaming around operating from lots of different QTHs, this isn't a great solution either.

A number of people have requested per-QSO station QTHs. I've learned not to publicly commit to features in advance, but it is something I have on the list to consider for the future.

If you want to talk in more detail about this, feel free to email me directly at andrew at aetherlog.com .

Andrew AC7CF

I believe LoTW supports Maidenhead locators, but not sure how it handles constantly changing QTHs within a Log file. I did look into their FAQ, but it sounded as if I would need to upload multiple logs. How would I do that with Aether... Or any other program...?
