You have a number of topics …. all in one message:
You never answered my message about using a real mouse to get the hover over a call sign to work? Does the hover popup work with a real mouse plugged into your MacBook Air?
Have you joined the fldigi Yahoo discussion group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/linuxham/?

Good to hear the fldigi/TS-590S combo has been working for you. Be careful working DX can be very habit forming!

ALC showing more that one bar on the face of the TS-590 is not good. The best or optimum setting is where you can see the desired power output (30, 50 or 100 watts) with little or no ALC showing on the TS-590's S-Meter. The ALC is usually a function of the audio input from the computer to the rig. As you may recall we set your fldigi "TX level attenuator" to -10 db (mid range) on the lower menu bar, then adjusted the audio output using the OS X System Preference/Sound/Output/USB Audio CODEC Output volume slider to about 25%. At the time you said this was showing the desired power with no ALC showing on the TS-590's S-Meter. Once setup correct you can fine tune on-the-fly using the fldigi TX level attenuator.
The TX MONITOR you asked about is described on page -56- of the TS-590's manual. I think your was set way too high. I run mine at level 1 or 2 at the most. It will drive you crazy at anything higher.
> Is 30 watts the "correct power" for a 100 watt radio?
The term correct power in the TS-590 is can of worms and the subject of MANY long topics on the Yahoo Kenwood TS-590S discussion group. Until you get used to fldigi and the TS-590, you should set the TS-590 at 50% or about 50 watts. If you are only seeing 30 watts with no ALC showing that usually means one of two things. Your adjusted audio (from fldigi and the MacBook Air) is too low or your need to run the TS-590's Auto antenna tuner. I have seen my output power go from 50 watts to 100 watts in RTTY by just running the antenna tuner again.

Apply in the Macro editor…. then Save Config in fldigi. Also, under the fldigi File menu you will see Macros Open and Save. The macros in fldigi are excellent and are discussed in detail at
http://www.w1hkj.com/FldigiHelp-3.21/Macros.html
The important thing to remember is the Macro Editor lets you Save to test a macro but it is not really saved until you save the file. A number of new users have found out the hard way that once you get a macro working correct, save the macro under the File menu and if you have messed with the filename, be sure to save the configuration.

You can get a replacement at the Apple Store, Fry's or Best Buy.

What's rain. We have been a three year drouth in Central Texas and we no longer get rain.

The neat thing about fldigi is the software works the same for all three platforms. The SignaLink uses the Serial port on the TS-590S and it is just another variable in the audio chain. i used to have a SL-USB and it worked very good. I sold it when I got the TS-590S that has the same chipset install the rig.
