This is true of microHAM's microKeyer based interfaces (microKeyer, CW keyer, etc), but is not true of the USB Interface II and USB Interface III. They do have a simple USB to serial adapter chip in them, and software doesn't need to do anything special to support them.

I second the recommendation to contact microHAM support. If they can't or aren't willing to help you effectively, you should return the device.
