[Ham-Mac] Aether and SiLabs USB-Serial Port Driver Problems

I recently lost USB connectivity between Aether on a very stable Mac Pro system (10.6.8) and my Icom 7600 and for some unknown reason the "SLAB_USBtoUART" serial port simply disappeared (Aether Preferences - Rig Control) and there was no I/O with the 7600. It briefly "reappeared" for one Aether start then went away again (that was really weird!).

Hmmmm, well maybe downloading the latest SiLabs driver would fix it....went and got Version 3 and no joy.  As Version 2 had been stable I reinstalled it and sure 'nuff the serial port was now available again and talking to the 7600.

I sent a note to Andrew, Aether's author, and he mentioned that a couple of other folks had reported problems with the Version 3 driver as well.  So if you're having problems you may want to simply reinstall the older driver and see what happens.
