[Ham-Mac] Problem Installing FTDI USBSerialDriver

When I installed my Navigator interface in lion, I learned that the ftdi drivers required a certain length for the port name to be recognized. For example, if the driver tried to set the navigator's winkeyer as cu.wkey, or cu.0001awkey or some such thing, it wouldn't work. I had to experiment to get the exact right length. I am in the middle of a move and don't have access to my equipment, but I seem to recall the magic length was somewhere between 10 and 14 characters....and it was a different length than what snow leopard used
The way to experiment is to create your port name as something like wkey01 or something similar...then add a hyphen between the wkey and the 01...reboot and try it. If it doesn't work, add another and keep doing so until it works.
Ymmv, but this was required for the Navigator which uses the winkeyer chip as well.

AMSerial error code 100 means that the attempt to read the response to the Winkeyer echo test admin command has timed out with nothing read. That tells me that the serial driver is working and the device itself is not: either it doesn’t fully implement the Winkeyer command set, or it is in a bad state. If it were a real Winkeyer I’d advise you to learn how to reset it.
