This is an update to several postings regarding an issue where the Auto-fill was not working my fldigi setup. When the fldigi UI/Logging/QSO logging Auto-fill option is checked, the country of the selected call sign is auto filled in the QSO box based on information contained the AD1C cty.dat file.
Based on W3NR's suggestion I took the time to start over as a new user and the Auto-fill started working. I even posted a Bingo message on 3-Dec-12 that the Auto-fill feature was working. Then as I added back my normal settings the Auto-fill stopped working again. One of the fldigi user configuration options was messing with the Auto-full feature.
It took a long time to find but the problem child option is the UI/Contest Duplicate check.
With the Dupe checker set to ON, the Auto-fill does not not function. With the Dupe check set to OFF, the Auto-fill works perfectly.
I am now running with my old fldig_def.xml file and the Auto-fill works as is should as long as I have the dupe checker set to OFF.
For normal day to day operation most fldigi users will never see this issue. The fldigi dupe checker is a great feature for contesters but you should turn it OFF when the contest ends. If you fail to change to OFF, it will mute the Auto-fill.
