The IC-735 is quite picky about the settings. The CI-V interface is much slower than modern ICOM rigs. You have to set the speed to 1200 Bd, 8 Bit, No parity, 2 Stop Bits, activate RTS. Keying the PTT with CAT is problematic with this radio. Use VOX whenever possible. Check those settings. Most of the problems are to be found in this area.

Be sure to use the correct sound input and output on your mac. This is to be set separately in every application. Do not use the built-in audio in/out on your mac.
