[Ham-Mac] OT: Software Compatibility

Some time ago when I was ordering my Mac Mini, we discussed
software compatibility.

I upgraded to the Mini (OS X 10.6.6) from my old eMac (10.3.9).

The applications I use most aside from the email and browser are
Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver MX. Unfortunately, neither of
these are working for me on the new Mini.

Dreamweaver MX runs, but crashes when I use the Site Tools to
ftp updated files. Otherwise, it seems to work for HTML editing, etc.
(I have the Educational Version.)

Photoshop CS2 I never got to run at all. I actually have CS2 Upgrade
and I upgraded from Photoshop 6.0 which I have copied onto the drive.
The registration/serial number verification does not work.

Also, I am considering upgrading Photoshop to CS5, but I do not
know from which versions the CS5 Upgrade will upgrade or if it will
at all in my case.

Also, I am a student (until the day I die), at this time studying World
Religion, so I am interested in Academic or Educational upgrades.
Since these applications are used for personal and educational
purposes, the budget for upgrades is limited.

If anyone has useful knowledge and/or suggestions for resolving these
issues, I would appreciate hearing about it.
