Hi Stephen,
I'm replying to this a month and a half late as I have an update...

I've just attempted getting wsjt running on an intel mac and struck a problem The latest stable version of portaudio, the cross platform audio library, has a bug when running on 64bit intel which causes it to crash.
There is a patch from from November 2009 at;
http://music.columbia.edu/pipermail/portaudio/attachments/20091116/dfebf265/attachment.obj
which works and I've applied it to a private version of the port to get it working here.
So, at the moment, unless people are happy with compiling their own portaudio the macports method is broken for 64 bit 10.6.x. (Which is the default for macports)
