[Ham-Mac] OT: upgrading to Lion

You might consider getting a copy of SuperDuper! and an external drive for it. SuperDuper creates a bootable hard drive, unlike Time Machine, and you can simply boot from the SD! copy of your laptop and clone the whole thing over to the Mac Mini. It will replace the entire HD with the clone, system, preferences, apps and everything else. I have done this for years. It is very simple. It's also a snap to recover the entire drive. I couldn't get by without SD! I use TM automatically, and back up manually to SD! weekly or so.
