I posted this last week, but WSJT, which contains WSPR, runs fine on Boot Camp with Windows. I run it that way with Windows XP. The downside is that you need to buy a Windows OS, which is more expensive than a Mac OS and you need to reboot. But in Boot Camp the Mac hardware is running as a PC with no virtualization. 

In principle it should be possible to build WSJT with the terminal UNIX on the Mac, but I have not had luck with that and I think that others have also had issues. You could also use Linux and try a build with that, but I think the issues are the same. The Mac is very versatile. - Duffey
