Several users have questioned whether fldigi might need various bandpass
filters, notch filters etc. Most of the questions were targeted at the
waterfall representation. I thought it might help if you were able to
observe how the various decoders can work in the presence of band
limited white noise and other modes, all within a single 2500 Hz audio
passband.

Download this file http://www.w1hkj.com/downloads/fldigi/mixed-modes.wav

and place in in your fldigi.files (~/.fldigi on linux and OS X)
folder. The file is about 1.5 Mg large.

Then play back the wav file using the File/Audio/Playback menu item.
You will find RTTY, CW, PSK-31, PSK-63F, MFSK-16, HELL and THROB-4
signals combined with band-limited white noise. This will sound like a
cacophony if you play it with a wave player. You will probably be able
to pick out the sounds of CW and RTTY. Perhaps one or two others.
