Sadly this is not unique to Yaseu. I tried for 
some time to get the protocol for the Pro-164 
scanner, and could never get it out of them. So I 
ended up having to run a windows scanner program 
under vmware to upload channels and talkgroups to 
the scanner. One of these days I may just monitor 
the serial link, and see if I can reverse 
engineer enough of it to write a Mac app.
