Hi Lew,
That's why we are all here. We can all pitch in and help.
Sounds like your Serial port is selected correctly and baud rate match
radio menu setting. Have you tried checking the DTR RTS check boxes
to see if it corrects problem?
DTR (Data terminal ready) and RTS (Request to send) represent pins and
thus wires to control the flow of data. And you missing flow of data
in one direction.
Some implementations of serial communication (aka your radio) may not
offer RTS and/or DTR pins going to 5v+. In this case you need to have
MacMemories Manager (or any software) ignore those by unchecking or if
radio it needs them then you need to check them.
Best to just try checking or unchecking these "checkbox" to see what
your situation requires. If that doesn't work we maybe missing wire
in serial cable (bad connection) or maybe there is a menu option on
radio (sorry I don't know the FT897) to enable or disable RTS/DTS or
it maybe labled serial hardware flow control.
On my Kenwood TS-2000 I check RTS and uncheck DTR.
Someone with an FT897 may already know the secret formula and pipe in.
OR tip... use the same setting you using from MacLoggerDX v5
preference since that seem to be working for you.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes!
