Robert,
(with apologies to Richard for his well-intended advice which applies to
every other transceiver I know about!), but do not set the K3 for no ALC
bars showing. The K3 is different.
There should be about 4 bars flickering on the ALC display for best transmit
output. There has been much discussion of this in the past on the elecraft
reflector and it is well documented. The ALC meter acts more like a VU
meter in its first part of the range and ALC won't cut in until about 5 bars
are shown as far as I can remember.
Welcome to PSK31, I've been playing with it since 1996 and it's a great mode
- especially with the K3!
