Chicken of the VNC is a good choice but you may find this to be easier.
https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/mac/
You don't need to poke a hole in his router or connect directly to his
IP. You would navigate to the logmein.com website and do everything
from inside your web browser. I've used this on a Macbook Pro (10.5.3)
to WinXP machines, the Mac client is newer but should be very similar
if supported on his G4 .
