You can download "Chicken of the VNC"  obtained at <http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/

He would need activate Screen Sharing in the Sharing area of System  
Preferences if his computer is  running 10.5.  In 10.4 it is called  
Apple Remote Desktop.

If he has a router he would need to forward port 5900 to his computer.

You just connect to his IP from Chicken of the VNC.
