[Ham-Mac] Reintroduction and New Addresses

Hello,
I recently moved and finalized my divorce, so please
excuse my lack of knowledge of almost anything in
the past year or so.
My new internet provider is Wildblue, a satellite delivered
service which is necessary because of my location in a
rural desert area SSW of Phoenix about 40 miles.
I am using an eMac G4 1.25GHZ running OSX 10.3.9.
While I have some antennas at this location, I am still
reconnecting gear, unpacking boxes, and waiting for
my head to stop spinning.
While not entirely "Mac-related" I wonder if anyone might
have ideas about simple, effective ways to share the satellite
internet connection? I have used a MIMO wireless router
on 3 different cable internet networks with no configuration.
It appears to be not as simple to use it with my satellite connection,
but it is likely an oversight on my part. I also use an XP laptop
and have an old PC running Win2000Pro to use occasionally.
There is a provision in OS X for sharing internet and I wonder
if anyone has experiences with this? I don't. Would this
favorably compare with a MIMO wireless router?
What about the "firewall" aspects of using a router vs OS X?
The problem may arise because of the inherent propagation
delay in the satellite connection.
Thanks for your tolerance.
