Actually it's probably more a factor of the way the Mac renders fonts  
vs Windows.  This probably stems from the Mac's history as a  
publishing platform.  Here's a good article on it;

Font smoothing, anti-aliasing, and sub-pixel rendering
Apple and Microsoft have always disagreed in how to display fonts on  
computer displays. Today, both companies are using sub-pixel  
rendering to coax sharper-looking fonts out of typical low resolution  
screens. Where they differ is in philosophy.

You might also try changing the "Font smoothing style" in the  
"Appearance" preference pane to "best for LCD" which should help as  
well.
