The current version in macports (1.8.4) appears to have some  
problems, although earlier versions worked very well.  I haven't  
tried to compile it myself on OS X yet.  There is a mailing list at  
<http://lists.xastir.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/xastir> which you  
should find helpful.
