Rich KI4FW,
I don't think Chris uses a SignaLink and it 'may' be attenuating or changing
the signal from your Icom. As a test can see if you can bypass the SL-1? I
could not bypass the SL-1 without getting another 13-Pin connector cable.
FYI, I tried to bypass the SL-1 by using a jumper from the EXT Speaker
output to the input of the iMic and has no joy. I was never able to get a
signal through the iMic to my Mac G4 via the USB port.
I took the iMic over to N9TX's QTH and tried it in his Icom 706 with and
without the SL-1 and we could see a noticeable drop in receive signal. At
least he was getting something through the iMic. Yes, I know the iMic is an
A to D converter but my experience is it acts like an attenuator on the Rx
side. I finally gave up screwing around with the iMic for receive and only
use it for transmit.
Let me know if you find a solution and I will try again. The lack of
external audio line-in port has kept me away from the iBook.
