Just had another though.  Do you have the Icom 756 Pro III in RTTY mode?
The cocoaModem program is a AFSK program and you cannot FSK key the rig that
Icom expects when in "RTTY" mode.  You can receive with the rig in FSK but
you will not be able to key the rig.  For AFSK you need to have the rig in
USB for PSK or LSB.

I am grabbing at straws to find out why your cocoaModem,  the iMac, the iMic
cannot key the Icom 756 Pro III.

The problem has to be something very simple like having the rig or software
in the wrong mode.
