That said, I have no idea why anyone would even want 
to run bootcamp 


I'd rather run Boot Camp (and plan to) than Parallels.  Win just seems to be
more stable and I've had headaches getting Para to do DHCP correctly.  No
fumbling with weird USB issues as mentioned previously.  Yes you can buy a
PC cheaply but one of the big draws is not having to have two machines just
for the occasional Windoze usage.  Especially in my case as I'm awaiting the
arrival of a MacBook Pro.  Portable and either OS at my fingertips, works
for me.
