[Ham-Mac] Yaesu 857 and Mac, what do I need?

This is great to know.  I recently acquired a Yaesu 897D, and posted  
to the Yahoo chat group for that rig asking if I could use the iMic,  
which I already have. Everyone said, no, no, no, you have to get a  
rigblaster, etc.

But it seemed to me that if I can control the audio level, which one  
can do with cocoamodem, there ought not to be a reason to go with the  
interfaces, except possibly because of ground loop problems.  does  
the iMic provide isolation to prevent ground loops?
