Scott,

The Click Click sound is fairly typical of a damaged hard drive, and the
unit is about the right age for HD failure.  I would more suspect damage in
shipping than damage during the hinge replacement, but it's all pretty moot
at this point.  You may be able to get it to start up for a few minutes to
rescue data when the unit is COLD.  I've been lucky this way with a few
iBooks and PowerBooks.
