Sorry, I dropped mac.com a few years ago as I could not see paying to
advertise for Apple by using the  @mac.com  address; and I had no need for a
remote storage.  Having the Public folder as you described has value but I
really don't need one.  The example was the only time I really needed a
public folder.  If I had a number of files that would be of interest to
others, I would consider .mac again.

Thanks for reminding me of the Public folder service in mac.com
