Try using goSerial to send escapekiss.bin. I have not tried this with
a KPC-9612, but I have tested goSerial with binary file sending and
it is transparent.
goSerial is still "unfinished" and in "alpha" but the features it
implements are solid. It has a useful feature set for test/debug
applications (in part because that's what I wanted and I bugged the
author to implement those things). The main thing missing is VT100 or
other terminal emulation; for now it's a dumb TTY.

Actually, you probably don't need a program at all. Right after
running the KISS-mode program (which configured the serial port
correctly) you can probably say this on a Terminal command line:
cat escapekiss.bin >/dev/tty.USA49W18112P1.1
... where you will have to substitute the name of your serial port
for tty.USA49W18112P1.1
And then, whether that works or not, petition the authors of your
favorite KISS-mode programs to add this functionality directly into
the program. You really shouldn't have to mess with it yourself.
