[Ham-Mac] KPC-9612 and KISS

Does anyone  have any idea how to get a Kantronics KPC-9612 out of KISS 
mode?

I've tried the 'escapekiss.bin' program using Z-Term on the Dog Park 
Software site and have had no luck.

I've followed the instructions noted in the KPC Manual, but they don't 
work with a Mac, even using ZTerm.

My two remaining options, unless  someone has a better idea, are:

1) hook it up to a  PC to reset it; or
2) take the cover off and do a hard reset

Neither option seems very practical if I want to move it in and out of 
KISS mode.

Ideas?
