[Ham-Mac] pikdev on a Mac?

After going to Atlanticon this weekend, I got really fired up about the
Elmer 160 course and the PIC-EL board.

Temporarily, I can borrow a Windows laptop from work, but I'd really
like to use my Mac for programming PICs.

There are several linux tools like pikdev, gpsim, and gnupic that look
like they will do the job, but I'm really out of my league here. Has
anyone managed to compile any of these programs in OS X? I checked
fink, but it doesn't look like there are any pre-compile binaries. I
tried to compile pikdev, but it doesn't like something about my fink
based qt installation, so I really don't know what to do next.

Any insights would be appreciated...
