Well Dick.. If you check my message a bit closer.. I haven't hooked UP the
Rigblaster yet! I had a Buxcom but it kept falling apart so I put it aside
and got the MUCH more solidly built Rigblaster Pro... Hope to get to it
this week if I can stop having problems with my PocketPC Phone wiping all
its data and then not appearing on the computer.. Wasted most of yesterday
fighting with that - for an hour or so I thought I lost ALL my contacts,
address book and calendar from 2002 to current. But I managed to recreate
MOST of it, but not all..
Anyway back to topic, as soon as I get the Rigblaster running I'll get back
to you.. MEANWHILE though, West Mountain is not so non-committal anymore
about Macintosh!
Check out this excerpt from their FAQ:
23 - DO I NEED A REAL SOUND BLASTER BRAND SOUND CARD?
No, most of the software will work with any sound card that works with
Windows, Mac OS or Linux, you do have to use software that works with your
operating system.Only if it is DOS software that says it requires a true
Sound Blaster or the author of the software says it was written for a
particular brand card will there be an issue. You must read the
documentation that the software author supplies and figure out if your card
is compatible. Perhaps five of the over 100 ham radio programs require a
particular sound card, the other programs don't care about the sound card,
only the operating system. The RIGblaster will work with any computer that
has sound.
So you should be able to use Mac Software, OR run Virtual PC and use Windows
Software. This is a mnaual change since a few months ago, so maybe they came
around for phone support also..
