In my case, I use an old Radio Shack audio mixer. I feed the audio
from the various rigs into it, as well as the sound output from my
Mac. The output of the mixer goes to the microphone inputs of the
various radios, to the Mac's sound input, and to a nice pair of
speakers. This lets me select audio from any radio, and the sliders
let me get the optimum level from each radio. I can also vary the
sound level into the Mac, and to the speakers for listening.
I have home-brew cables running to each radio, with a small audio
transformer in case for isolation, to break any ground loops.
