Harris, I remember in the first days of Safari that folks had problems 
with the downloads of Safari and once they put a new download on the 
system their problems were cleared up.  I over the years have often had 
flimsy downloads that were quirky until I dumped them and did it again, 
  In fact, I had that problem last week with a Norton product and once 
Norton told me to fix my permissions and re-download the problem was 
fixed.
