[Ham-Mac] Status Report and Help Request on darwinPSK

Dick,

Surprisingly I had the same problem but the opposite way round. I could
not get DarwinPSK to run on my iBook G3/600, as it would give exactly
the same problem reported by you on your G4. Tom Dove did say to me
that the iBook series did have a different hardware method of
processing the sound than the G4 based machines, which could have been
an explanation, although I never got to the bottom of it.

However I have managed to get it running on my G4DP 867 without any
problems. The only thing I had to do different was to install the
unstable packages for esound, FFTW and QT3 libraries. This involves
selecting the unstable checkbox in Fink Commander's Preferences menu,
and then selecting in the normal way the libraries in the top right
hand corner of Fink Commander. The other thing I had to do was to
install the libraries from the their source code as I could not
download them as binaries. It took some time to do this but was
successful.

My sound input is from a Griffin UBS iMic from my FT847, and while it
is a bit sensitive on the receive level seems to work OK. I have not
tried to transmit yet, so cannot comment on how well this side
performs. I know that Tom has got some work to do on that side, and I
know people (myself included) are happy to help in anyway we can.

Anyway hope this gives you somewhere to start from.
