Thanks for everyone's help.

I have finally got it working with the 756ProII. The pinout is as
follows on an 8 pin DIN plug:

 From p. 13 of my IC756ProII manual:

Pin 2 (ground) goes to a ground connector (6, 7, or 8) on the JPI board.
Pin 3 (SEND) goes to the PTT (3) connector on the JPI board.
Pin 4 (MOD) goes to the goes to the MIC connector (2) on the JPI board.
Pin 7 (13.8 V goes to the PWR connector (4) on the JPI board.

The reason that it didn't work correctly when I installed it was due
to the insufficient TX audio level from my Apple G5 computer. I took
the SL 1+ out of its case and turned up the internal "RX" and "TX"
levels about a quarter a turn when the RX was better and the TX put
power into the 756.

Have a great Christmas Season.
