Scott,

I have recently moved into a new house here in Arizona and my electrician
used a UFER Ground for the electrical system. I asked him to install an
extra one for me here in the ham shack which is an extra bedroom before the
foundation was poured. As far as I can tell it works really well!

I also use a UFER for my new tower. I don't buy into the thought that
lightning will damage your tower base and there has been a lot of discussion
in the past even in the ARRL's QST... I believe a UFER for the hams shack
ground is fine and that a UFER for the tower is a good start. I plan to add
some additional grounding rods to the tower soon.
