Hi
I was told by my local Comcast center that a 400 Mhz or better G4 and=20
osX Jaguar was the only Mac systems supported.
TRANSLATED that means that is all they have taught their telephone=20
techies ( or have in the ring folder binder for them to look up )
I ran an iMac 233 Mhz with 8.6 and their modem hooked to the ethernet=20
connection - I don't think they knew Or cared as long as there was no=20
problems
Later I bought an LinkSys Router and also hooked up an Airport hub for=20=
my wife's' iBook (also a G3 on 8.1)
I have found a lot of stuff on line uses only the latest Browsers like=20=
Banking and ordering products on line - you will need current versions=20=
of IE or NetScape and Safari (those browsers with 128 bit security) for=20=
these Sites
and I finally updated the os in both my computers to os 10.2.6
I've been using these different systems for almost 2 1/2 yrs. now and I=20=
just don't tell the Comcast techie I'm running a G3 processor - if I=20
have problems - they are usually line (Cable) problems ) but they ask=20=
a lot of questions to try to determine if it is your problem or theirs=20=
before they sent out a repair
hope this helps
