TNX to Tom Dove, K2ORC for the latest release of DarwinPSK that runs under
the Mac X11 environment. I tried the DarwinPSK version 0.7.1.1 and like Tom
stated it decodes PSK31 very well. I have not tried the transmit. Heads up
on Tom's note in the excellent doc files tha the default gain setting is too
high. Be sure you turn down the gain setting to 1 before you push the red
TX button. It is really loud even at the 1 setting.
There may be a bug in the fink esound deamon or Mac OSX as it is hard to get
the software to start detecting the audio input. If you start the program
and he waterfall display is blue with no real signals, go to your OSX System
Preferences and open the Sound CP. I don't really understand why but if
mess with it by selecting the External Microphone input, you will then see
the audio on the bar graph. The correct AF gain setting is when see a blue
signal level rather than red.
If you would like a copy of a screen shot of DarwinPSK doing its thing on a
PSK31 signal, drop me an email note.
Again, thank to Tom Dove for taking on the task of porting LinPSK to the
work under Mac X11 for the rest of us.
