I have also checked the ARRL Web site with IE5, Netscape 4 and 6, Opera, OmniWeb and iCab, in both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X where the client software was available. The ONLY browser that had any problem with the page was iCab, and since I've seen iCab have problems with numerous other pages I visit on a regular basis, my solution is not to use it.

For that reason, and because this is a technical issue and not in any way a policy issue, I don't see any reason the Board should have been bothered with this at all, especially since, as shown in messages you yourself posted:

the "vast majority of the _few users_ (my emphasis - JB) who have reported the problem have been satisfied" with technical solutions suggested.

Also from Jon Bloom:

>>>Finally, this is the only response I'm going to make to messages that are CC'd to the entire Board. That tactic serves no useful purpose. If you want to discuss this further, I'll be happy to do so, and I'm sure Tom Frenaye and Mike Raisbeck will welcome being CC'd. Tom is perfectly capable of sharing with the Board anything that requires their attention.

I agree. This whole thing has seemed to be making a very large mountain out of what really amounts to a very small molehill because a few people have problems getting a web page to work. My guess would be that you would find similar percentages of the same thing regardless of what page on the Web you checked. None of them are perfect. It's not an issue.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, but I use IE 5 because whether I like the source or not, it simply is the most reliable and best performing Web browser available for the Mac today. I keep trying other ones as updates come out, but I always come back to IE 5.

Regardless of this, there are several other browsers that work just as well with the ARRL web site, so anyone who wants to use that site should have no problem finding a satisfactory browser.

This thing has already burned up a whole lot more bandwidth and everyone's time than it deserved. It's not burning any more of mine.
