After reading all the comments I wanted to see for my self.
I used my iMac with both Netscape 4.7 and 6.2 then Explorer
I found none of the complaints listed at 1029 hrs MST.
I do know from managing a department in TELUS Communications inc that
if you are an MS only house and the corporate directive is MS only
people get lazy and do not review the HTML for syntax errors. They
are told this is a waste of time it is all taken care of in FrontPage.
It is as has been stated Syntax errors do creep in regardless of the QA.
It is inexcusable that management would defend the position in the
light it works fine in Explorer.
The standard recommended procedure is to use several no one or two
browsers to view the end product. This verifies that the code is
correct and will display on the majority of browsers.
Similarly when burning CD-ROM's people should use and ISO format that
allows universal access not just the Windows flavour of the month.
I for one do not think there is any intent to eliminate any user
community, just an attempt to meet time commitments and a possible
lack of understanding of the customer impact of relying on a sole
software and Operating system vendor.
This is one man's opinion not not intended as a rant on any one topic
or person.
