[Ham-Linux] Problem with fldigi on Ubuntu 11.4

fldigi was running until upgrading to Ubuntu 11.4 (and letting the
system search/delete "unused software). 
I deleted and reinstalled fldigi and associated software. Can receive
but not transmit. Signalink USB PTT light does not light.
Signalink USB operates fb on my netbook running previous release of
Ubuntu so I can get on the air when time allows.
