I have been using a live CD distro called Harv's Hamshack Hack, it is on
Knoppix 3.8
I have had 0 problems out of it, and it has all the programs you can
think of, or that I could think of needing
for what I like to do on the radio. He says it will run on a 486 with
16m in text mode or 96m for Xwindows.
I am running it on a real old Hitachi K6-2/233 with 128m of ram and it
works just fine. There is options to
save your settings to the hard drive, you can get it to use the windows
swap drive or make your own. Like I said
I have had no issues with it and I think if you wanted to show it to a
non Linux using ham this would be a good one to show them.
In case your wondering, no I have no relations to the software except I
use it and like it, and I do have bot Unix and Linux
experience, just this one is so easy and works without me having to do
anything to it!
The URL to look at the distro is http://hamshack-hack.sourceforge.net/
so take a look and see what you think.
