I have been running SUSE Linux for my Firewall Router box. I have a
100Mbit/s optical Fibre connection to my ISP and back when I first got =
it
there were no affordable routers for 100 Mbit/s so I had to build one. =
It
works OK with a Pentium 166 PC, however I have had to reboot now and =
then.
Not as often as when I was running Microsoft Windows but still enough to =
be
annoying. Since you want to run 24/7 you might want to consider =
something
more stable, I was told that FreeBSD was a very good OS, based on UNIX =
just
like Linux ,with consistency and stability so I gave it a try. I =
installed
it 2 months ago and it was very simple with a lot of good support
documentation. Maintenance has been zero so far and I haven't had to =
reboot
yet. It comes with support for Linux as well so in case you want to run =
a
Linux application that is not ported to FreeBSD. I know this is a Linux
Forum and I am not preaching the gospel of FreeBSD it is just that I am =
very
happy with my system and want to share the good experience. Please check =

addition to being the firewall, I want to run TNOS (the linux version) =

need yet.... anyhow that's beside the point....
basically what i need to know is.... can I run RedHat 9.2 (I think is =
the
latest) with the following system specs
AMD K6-2 400MHz
256MB RAM
20GB Hard Drive
or
Celeron 466
256MB RAM
20GB Hard Drive
am I going to encounter any problems???
what am I lookin at as far as sluggishness, speed wise,or hang ups???
