I can't count the number of email, and telephone calls I get per month,
from what appears to be 100% legit companies, that aren't, with contact
info, email, telephone numbers, you name it, where the "right people",
answer with the "right words", that not only aren't in the county, they
have nothing to do with the company they claim, and even change several
times a month. Most recently was "Amazon", at the rate of 100+ calls
per day, all from different numbers, none legit, none amazon, for about
three weeks straight, then they stopped. I figure a newbie in the scam
game, or a defect in their dialer. Rather than dial 10,000 people from
one fake number, they dialed my one number, from ten thousand fake
originating lines. Either way, they got no-where, their scam failed,
and my answering machine got some exercise.
The number you called, may have nothing to do with anything. For
example, I could post my number to the forum, and answer with your name.
Who, except people that know you, and your number, would know it's me,
and not you? Along that line, I've had conversations, online, with
"friends", while they are here with me watching, or with another friends
having breakfast, telling me they are in front of them, and asking who
exactly I'm talking with. It's pretty crazy, and gets worse by orders
of magnitude, almost daily.
If you don't mind, send me the number(s), I'll check it out, if legit,
great, if not, I'll have fun. I have much of the same types of
equipment they do, and can play the same games, at their expense. I've
shut down both the "IRS", and "Microsoft" callcenters in the past, both
in roughly 1.5 minutes. They crash, I get my jollies, and thousands of
people aren't scammed. Win-win.
