There is no best, just what works for you.
I use Xubuntu and have for years and years. You can move the desktop 
around and have it look like most other OSes, like Win. It's stable, 
unlike Win. It does not spy on you, like Win,

You can run it in Live mode, to see how it detects your hardware and to 
check out how it works. You can also run it as a virtual machine with 
VirtualBox or Vmware. Or just install.
